22 Steps to Achieve "The Best" Furniture Refinishing
Complete initial inspection and price estimate.
Remove all hardware.
Remove all doors and drawers.
Strip old finish using the "flow over method". We never dip your furniture. (Base price includes all exterior visible surfaces. Interiors and undersides are extra).
Neutralize and wash down your furniture.
Do 1 st hand sanding with 120 grit paper.
Do 2 nd hand sanding with 180 grit paper.
Do final hand sanding with 220 grit paper.
Wipe down your furniture with tack cloth to remove all traces of dust.
Fill in minor scratches (repairs are extra).
Do minor re-gluing (major re-gluing will be extra).
Apply basic stain (1 to 4 coats depending upon the color selected and wood species). Custom colors are extra.
Apply seal coat to surfaces.
Hand scuff entire surface.
Apply 1st finish coat
Hand scuff entire surface.
Apply 2nd finish coat.
Hand scuff entire surface.
Apply final finish coat "open grain". (Closed grain is extra.)
Clean, polish, and finish hardware.
Install hardware.
Do final inspection.
