Elevator Cabs Tell Prospects About Your Company

The interior of your elevator as well as the exterior can be a
subliminal signal of the success of your company, and yet, most companies give the elevator very little thought. Should you refinish the elevator interior? What does it mean to your sale when a potential client enters your commercial property and they get on the elevator if the interior section is scratched, graffiti covered and smells dank?
It may give the impression that your company is less than professional.
Small things make a big impression and if the fabric covered panels are stained or torn, that can signal that your company is not doing well and leave your prospect less than impressed.
Consider this - from a psychologicial perspective, elevators are a 'leap of faith'. We trust when we get on the elevator that we are safe and that the elevator will safely transport us to the floor of our choice. But who hasn't seen a horror movie where this process goes terribly wrong. We get on the elevator with certain expectations, and any thing that can subliminally betray these expectations will register, whether it's a conscious thought or a perception.
Why leave this to chance and worry about what our elevator is saying about the ups and downs of our company? Instead, inspect the elevator as if you were seeing if for the first time and consider if the interior gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling of safety or whether it may be time to consider having the elevator cab refinished or refurbished.
Even if you are confident in the mechanics of your elevator, perceptions can be a powerful dissuader when it comes to
establishing confidence. Don't let a nasty elevator cab or less-than-optimal appearance ruin business opportunities. In the long run, having the elevator present a positive impression will pay off dramatically in business and sales.
