How Refinishing Medical Office Reception Area Limits Germs

medical furniture restorationGerms lurk everywhere, and especially at the doctor's office waiting room, where sneezes and coughs are spreading potential viruses and bacteria.  Newer germ resistant finishes and fabrics used in medical waiting areas and patient evaluatino room furniture can help to limit the spread of these germs.

When you visit the doctor's office, what does the furniture in the medical reception area tell you about the kind of care you can expect?  Does the furniture look inviting and warm, or is it cold and uncomfortable?  Does the furniture look like it's been gnawed by creatures, or it glowing and polished?

With so many doctors and with the number of people who are stuggling to afford their health care benefits, it's not unreasonable to assume that the appearance of the doctor's office may make the difference for patients to select one doctor over another.

With expenses in health care rising, repairing and renovating medical office furniture is much less expensive than replacing the waiting room furniture.  Reupholstering chairs, refinishing tables and restoring the reception area desk are cost effective and can give the impression of stability.  Especially for doctors who do much of their business in elective procedures, the impression that patients get when they are seated in the reception area could be the difference between selecting one doctor over another.

Even the medical furniture in the examination rooms can be restored or refinished with germ resistant material.  Ripped pads on examination equipment is not a confidence builder to patients.  Recovering medical equipment padding and reupholstering examination tables with germ resistant fabrics is an investment in keeping patients healthier!

Fashions in medical reception areas change, and it's much easier to change color paletes or themes by refinishing and reupholstering than by purchasing new.  Plus changes in materials mean that newer fabrics are better at being impervious to penetration by germs and will withstand germicidal cleaners much better than the older fabrications.

If you haven't taken a good hard look around your medical waiting room recently, maybe it's time?

As a patient, have you ever been turned off by what you saw in a waiting room?  What was it and how did it make you feel?  Did you decide to go to a different medical care provider because of it?
